Inspiration comes from many sources; a loved one, an act of kindness from a stranger, a fictional character, a song lyric, nature, the list is probably endless. What we find inspirational is individual and often, it is difficult to understand why one thing connects with us enough to inspire us to respond, act or change.
One of my aims of this blog is to inspire you to look at your own life and to question whether you are living your best life. And, if you're not, to explore what is holding you back and what you can do to create the future you want. Is the best still to come?
Maybe you have someone in your life who you feel would benefit from reading these blog posts. If you do, then share the ones which speak to them. They aren't for everyone and they're not meant to be, they are for those who are facing the same challenges the posts cover. They are speaking to them and if they are listening, they'll be inspired to do something about it, to find the solution they are looking for or need.
Who do you inspire?
Whether you know it or not, you will be an inspiration to someone, somewhere. Within the workplace, it could be to a colleague, client, patient, student, fellow officer etc. You will inspire in the things you do and say. At home, your children look to you for inspiration, maybe it's other family members or friends. People very rarely tell us we are an inspiration but sometimes, often years later, we hear a comment which highlights we had a positive impact on their life. They saw something in us that kicked started that one thought, one feeling or one action. Our intention might not be to inspire but it can happen nevertheless so don't lose sight that everything you do, the positive changes you make, the life you live can have a powerful influence on someone else as they seek their own changes and be the best version of themselves that they can be.
Who inspires you?
Is there someone in your life right now whom you take inspiration from? Their attitude, outlook on life, their behaviour make you strive to live a better life, to be a better person. Maybe you see your child struggling every day, still with a smile on their face and never giving up. Or you work with a colleague who goes that extra mile, every time and is always there when you need support. Who do you look to for inspiration to help you find solutions to your challenges and make the changes you want to make?
I am fortunate to have many people in my life who continue to be an inspiration to me, some of them might not even know they are. There have been people I have worked with in the past whom would never consider themselves to be an inspiration to anyone given their actions, but having them in my life still had impact on me and I am who I am today, and where I am at this stage in my life, because of them. They inspired me to learn more, to develop my skills, to widen my reach and impact. My hope is for someone to take something from my knowledge, experience and support when they need it.
Be intentionally inspirational for others with your attitude and behaviour. And, if someone is an inspiration to you, tell them, you will make their day.
Or share this blog post to let them know they inspire you to act and take your life to the next level.
